Department of Nuclear Medicine
Established in 1986, the Department of Nuclear Medicine of Beijing Tiantan Hospital, Capital Medical University, is one of the first medical units in China to have PET/MR equipment for clinical use. It currently has one large-scale equipment each of PET/CT, PET/MRI, SPECT/CT, and cyclotron. The department has a complete platform for radionuclide production, radiopharmaceutical synthesis, patient nuclear medicine image acquisition, and image analysis. The department now has 3 chief physicians, 2 physicians, and 5 medical technicians and engineers.
Features of the department
PET/CT: PET/CT is a high-precision fusion of molecular, genetic, receptor, cellular and functional information obtained by PET, the highest achievement in the field of molecular imaging, and anatomical information obtained by CT, which is currently one of the best means to diagnose and treat various diseases in the clinic. DiscoveryTM PET/CT Elite was introduced into the department in June 2014. The PET system is the most advanced LBS crystal 256-detector system with millimeter-level PET resolution and the lowest dose of drug injection. The CT system is a 64-row 128-slice CT with the fastest volumetric scanning speed, which can guide the individualized treatment of tumors and neurological diseases. The High-end PET/CT system embedded in the "PERCIST Standard Oncology Treatment Guidance System" guides individualized treatment of oncology and neurological diseases. PET/CT is also one of the best choices for health checkups for high-risk groups of tumors.
PET/MR: Integrated PET/MR molecular imaging equipment can realize the precise fusion of PET and MR images in function, metabolism, blood perfusion, enzymes and receptors and anatomical structure, which enables it to play a unique role in the early diagnosis, precise staging and efficacy assessment of neuropsychiatric disorders, including brain tumors, dementia, epilepsy, Parkinson's disease, cerebral ischemia, etc., The PET/MR equipment has become the most advanced molecular imaging technology for brain science research, abdominal organ diseases, and health management. In 2016, the U.S. GE Signa PET/MRI was introduced in the department, which is a new generation of integrated synchronous scanning PET/MR with TOF technology, LBS crystals and SiPM solid-state array photoelectric converter to realize super PET detector, greatly improving the quality of PET images, reducing the injection dose, increasing scanning speed, expanding its application in brain function research, neurology, oncology, cardiology, pediatrics and physical examination screening, and becoming a powerful tool for precision and translational medicine.
In addition, the department also owns the HM-10 cyclotron. The department has a wide range of radionuclide production, synthesis of radiopharmaceuticals, and a research and development team.
