Department of Hyperbaric Oxygen

Department of Hyperbaric Oxygen is located on the first and second floors of the Rehabilitation Building in A-area of Beijing Tiantan Hospital (No. 119, South 4th Road West, Fengtai District), with the outpatients department and hyperbaric oxygen chambers on the first floor, the hyperbaric oxygen-intensive care units on the second floor.

The hyperbaric oxygen-intensive care units locate in the second floor, with with a length of 18 meters and a diameter of 3.8 meters. The hyperbaric oxygen-intensive care units can accommodate 6-8 ICU beds, and equipped with a complete life support system required for critical care including ventilator, ECG monitor, electroencephalographic monitor and percutaneous partial pressure of oxygen. The chambers are constant temperature and humidity, and real-time monitor of oxygen concentration and carbon dioxide concentration. The breathing gas can freely switch between air, pure oxygen, helium-oxygen mixture, and hydrogen-oxygen mixture to treat various acute and critical patients, especially neurocritical care patients. The chambers facilitate multidisciplinary cross connection with ICU and academic innovations in future, which is the first in China. It lays foundation for our hospital to the worldleading in area of hyperbaric oxygen therapy.

The conventional hyperbaric oxygen chambers is under-construction in the first floor, with a length of 21 meters and a diameter of 3.8 meters. The conventional hyperbaric oxygen chambers in the future can accommodate more than 30 people for simultaneous treatment, and is used for the daily treatment of inpatients and outpatients. Rehabilitation therapy (PT, OT, ST) equipment is installed, thus realizing innovative with rehabilitation medicine.

The department has a team of united, enthusiastic, positive medical staffs leaded by Director Qiuhong Yu. As the chief of department of hyperbaric oxygen, she is the member of the tenth committee of the Hyperbaric Oxygen Subcommittee of the Chinese Medical Association, member of the seventh committee of the Hyperbaric Oxygen subcommittee of the Beijing Medical Association, vice chairman of the Hyperbaric Oxygen subcommittee of the Beijing Women's Medical Association, member of the sixth special committee of the Chinese Medical Doctor Association of Neurorestoratology, and member of the Hyperbaric Oxygen-rehabilitation committee of the Chinese Rehabilitation Medical Association. Director Yu has been engaged in the clinical and scientific work of hyperbaric oxygen for more than 20 years, continuously explore hyperbaric oxygen therapy in neurologically critical patients, and in early brain resuscitation and neurorehabilitation of patients with brain injury. Director Yu has participated in many research projects, and published more than ten SCI and core articles.
