Neurotrauma ward

The Neurotrauma ward of Beijing Tiantan Hospital, Capital Medical University, is a specialized ward for treating craniocerebral trauma and related diseases. This ward is mainly responsible for the treatment of critical, complex and difficult craniocerebral trauma patients in Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei and other parts of the country. The team of doctors in the ward consists of 3 chief physicians, 2 deputy chief physicians, 4 attending physicians and 2 resident physicians, all of whom have doctoral degrees. There are also 3 doctoral supervisors and 1 master supervisor in this team.

The ward receives nearly 1,000 patients annually, of which about 70% are craniocerebral trauma patients. It also treats patients with neurosurgical diseases such as hydrocephalus, skull defect, chronic subdural hematoma, mild brain trauma (concussion), traumatic cerebrospinal fluid leakage and optic nerve canal injury. Standard large bone flap decompression, hydrocephalus VP/LP shunt, CSDH exhaustive drainage, endoscopic cerebrospinal fluid leakage repair, optic canal decompression and other operations were performed. In terms of scientific research and education, the ward has carried out a number of clinical scientific research work, such as systematic research on chronic subdural hematoma, hydrocephalus pressure monitoring, EEG monitoring and image evaluation, median nerve stimulation for coma and awakening, intracranial pressure monitoring, secondary brain damage, traumatic penumbra, trauma unit, detection of consciousness disorders, and neural mechanism research, and so on. The doctor team of the department has won the support of a number of national research projects, and has published hundreds of papers, training more than 30 master's students and doctoral students. The ward also undertakes the teaching tasks of training neurosurgery students from all over the country.

The experts in this ward have won two National Science and Technology Progress Awards, four Beijing Science and Technology Progress Awards, one Beijing Health Bureau Science and Technology Achievement Award, and many invention and utility model patents. The ward has been awarded the "Youth Civilization" for many years.
